Jimi Hendrix planned to meet his son, James Daniel Sundquist, upon his return to Stockholm in 1970. Sadly, Jimi passed away before he could fulfill his promise. While James never got to meet his father, he did have the chance to meet his grandfather, James Allen Hendrix. This interaction must have been a powerful and emotional experience for James, providing him with a connection to his father’s family.

Jimi Hendrix’s son, James Daniel Sundquist, was born in 1968 to a Swedish woman namedEva Sundquist. Jimi and Eva had a brief but intense relationship in 1967 when Jimi was touring Europe with The Jimi Hendrix Experience. James was born after Jimi had returned to the United States. Though Jimi never officially acknowledged James as his son, he was aware of his existence.

There is some evidence to suggest that Jimi was planning to visit James in Sweden in 1970. A letter from Jimi to his friend Chas Chandler, who was also his manager, mentions that he was planning a trip to Stockholm. The letter suggests that Jimi was considering leaving his career behind and starting a new life with Eva and James. Unfortunately, Jimi’s untimely death in September 1970 prevented this from happening.
